My readers live a life of conflict, drama, struggle, survival, and complex characters. They hunger for success. They hunger for passion and pleasure. They want happiness, success, and great fortunes. They’ll do anything to get it, including doing things that aren’t good for them. They need direction and divine inspiration.
In regards to me, many of them are intrigued by the movie making process, and in many cases make their own movies. Many of them love heroes and heroic stories. They thrive on chivalry and courage. They want to be like the stars of Hollywood movies. They love characters that survive under the most difficult of circumstances, and thrive on being connected to their identities. They too want to be Superheroes. In addition, many of them travel great distances to stand next to, hug, and take photos with the actors and crew who play out these roles. They are fans, and many of them are fanatics. The Producers created the show, but the fans created the success of the most prolific story in TV history, The Walking Dead. Moreover, these fans hunger for anything attached to the show, including my book.
Because of the show’s following, my book will best be marketed to these 14 million people who watch every week. With delayed viewership added it’s over 20 million. My notoriety as the boom operator for The Walking Dead provides an additional opportunity for sales, as I will have a booth, and do panel discussions, at ComicCons, Walker Stalker Cons, and various other related conventions around the globe. Each ComicCon brings in an average of over 75,000 attendees.
Importantly, my on-going speaking tour will put me in front of film students, independent moviemakers, high school students, academia, film union members, institutions, corporations, and civic-minded individuals. Many people will buy the book because of the show, the star’s interviews, the stories, my sound expertise, and many will buy the book for inspiration and self-help purposes.
The fan base grows daily on social networking sites. I have over a thousand followers on Facebook, and over 3,500 on Twitter. Many have already expressed that they want a signed copy, so book signings at stores across the country will be vital. My plan is to ask the actors that work on The Walking Dead to tweet and post on Facebook, the need to buy my book. Norman Reedus, who will be featured in the book, has over 1.5 million followers. The others have hundreds of thousands of followers.
Hundreds of people I grew up with in St. Joseph, MO, and many more that follow me, will eagerly buy my book. People I am connected with in cities I have lived in, like Denver, Kansas City, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Wilmington, NC will buy the book. 5,000 members of the two IATSE union locals I belong to will be potential buyers. My fellow members of the organization CEO Space are potential readers.
My book will be offered at The Walking Dead store in Senoia, GA where we shoot the TV series. Thousands of fans show up there every year. The Walking Dead’s highly loyal following buys millions of comic books, DVD’s, book chronicles, collectibles, katanas, posters, T-shirts, hats, action figures, board games, video games, coffee mugs, key chains, etc. Autographed items by a lead actor sell in the open market for hundreds of dollars. In addition to my book, I will sell similar items, and offer coaching and teaching opportunities through my website, http://www.theboomoperator.com
The Walking Dead’s fan base is enormous, and their interest is sizzling hot right now. A companion show to the original series is due out in late 2015. According to Robert Kirkman, the show’s creator, this show could go on for 12-15 seasons. Point being, the opportunity to tap into this fan base is enormous. In the long run, several other books will be written and published to further take advantage of this loyal following.
This is fantastic news! Today is my birthday (46) and I always buy myself a book. I will definitely treat myself to yours. #BelatedGiftsAreStillGifts
